Come see me perform a lost work with Liz Ames!
After restoring and performing the work from manuscript, I’ve decided to present Joseph Holbrooke’s Concerto Op. 88 this year at the Navy Symposium in its piano reduction form.
Premiered in 1921, this work has gone through several revisions over the years. It is our earliest concerto to feature both soprano and alto saxophones. After reaching out to the publisher, I was put in touch with the composer’s grandson, who kindly sent me a copy of the manuscript score and parts. After many hours of painstakingly reconciling discrepancies between the various source materials, I digitally engraved a critical edition of the work and performed with the Florida Atlantic University Symphony Orchestra. The piano reduction has been published but rarely performed. I’d like to bring attention to this charming work, and will be re-engraving the piano reduction to create a more unified version between the piano reduction and the restored orchestra score. Please come and enjoy the work, and I will be bringing a copy of the manuscript score with me!
